Taking Control of my Weight ~ Day 1
Become Aware of what I'm eating and how.
So in order to know what steps to take, I decided I should figure out what I'm doing that is working and what needs to be 'twiqued'. So Awareness is my step 1. Plan is to track and blog about the next few days.
Lunch ~ Thursday 3/26
Not overly hungry, but 'time' to eat. My regular lunch = Lean roast beef on Everything Bagel, ranch dressing on bagel, lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese. Tortilla chips and a diet coke. Estimated about 750 calories. I'll calculate later.
I really had to fight the urge to eat mindlessly while watching TV or reading news on my smart phone. But good lesson. I'm not paying attention to one of the most IMPORTANT things I do for my life. Eating with purpose. Yikes. OK. so I payed attention to the food. First, it seemed like a lot. I continued eating well past when I felt full, but was compelled to 'finish the food' I had prepared. The beef was very flavorful, I liked the bagel. The salty chips were a great crunch and I like salt. The Diet Coke really seemed very much like a pleasant tasting chemical liquid. It caused a very strong burning sensation in my mouth. Not very refreshing but I liked the sensation it created in my mouth. My other drink of choice is unsweetened Iced Tea. I didn't drink it for lunch but it always seems refreshing to me. I feel full but I would happily down a handful of chocolate candies or munch several Girl Scout cookies. Good thing I don't have either. :-)
Conclusion ~ I have a set of habits and foods that I haven't evaluated or adjusted lately
to better serve the ACTUAL needs of my body, and I like foods that create strong sensations in my mouth.
