"Morning has broken, like the first morning..." I woke up watching the sun rise through the window with that lyric in my head. I like to start each day with gratitude, first to God for gracing me with another earthly day, and then set the tone for the rest of the day with a few things I'm grateful for. So today, I'm grateful for..
- Our nation's commitment to the smooth transition of power. I am profoundly grateful. Thank you.
- To all the public servants that serve us in so many ways, regardless of circumstances. Thank you.
- To Donald J. Trump for challenging me to crisply define what I believe and showing me exactly where my complacency lies. Thank you. I will be taking action on things that I hold dear but are not guaranteed. I have been taking too much for granted.
- I'm grateful for the opportunity to see that the status quo wasn't working out for everyone and that I could be more sensitive to other's needs.
- To the media for reminding me to go out and talk to people, observe the reality around me. Make up my own mind about things.
Change is constant and inevitable. The challenge is to be proactive and manage it, not get run over by the chaos. To shape something better with the elements of the old. To abandon structures and patterns that don't work, are outdated or limiting. To embrace the opening that change brings and to exploit it for the betterment of all. That's what I'm grateful for today.
p.s. I'm also grateful for bacon. Which I'm having for breakfast. Yum!
